Whitney spent the first seven years of her legal career in Houston,
Texas practicing commercial litigation where she established a solid
reputation as an effective, honest, and ethical advocate for a broad
range of clients. Whitney left private practice in 1997 to join
Wal-Mart's Legal Department as Senior Counsel for Complex Litigation,
where she handled both commercial and employment cases for Wal-Mart
across the country. From there, Whitney broadened her knowledge
and experience by accepting a position in the Employment Practices
Division of the Legal Department, where she was later promoted to
Associate General Counsel.
During her 9 years as a Wal-Mart Associate, Whitney has developed
and sustained strong working relationships throughout the Company--
at every level, in every division-- based on trust, integrity and
honesty.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stephen F. Austin State
University in Nacogdoches, Texas where she received the award of
Outstanding General Business School Graduate, and her Juris Doctor
degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law where she served
as Casenote Editor on the Law Review.
She currently serves as Chairperson for the local chapter of NAMI
(National Alliance on Mental Illness), has served on the Board of
Directors for the Helen R. Walton Enrichment Center for Children
and is an active supporter of Hospice.
