Ebony Marketing Research, Inc. is a firm that is primarily engaged in conducting marketing research studies both nationally and internationally. As President, Mrs. Kirkland serves as moderator and chief research consultant. Management training includes developing and delivering management courses and workshops in the area of marketing and business development for the government and not-for-profit sector. The Atlantic Council of the US, United States Information Agency, The Inet foundation are just some of the agencies which Mrs. Kirkland has worked with. Mrs. Kirkland has traveled internationally and conducted training programs from women entrepreneurs. These training programs are normally held in Russia, Asia, and South Africa. In addition, Mrs. Kirkland has appeared on various TV and radio shows featuring entrepreneurs.

Prior to forming her company, Mrs. Kirkland taught and lectured at New York Technical College, where she served as chairperson of the women? program. Mrs. Kirkland was appointed assistant to the president at York College. Her professional affiliations include: Harvard University School of Business; the Marketing Research Association; the American Marketing Association; the International Consortium of Women in Business, the Advertising Research Foundation, the American Women's Economic Development Corporation; Women Incorporated; AWED's One Million Dollar Round Table; and NABO. Her publications and presentations include the following: "Starting and Managing Your Own Business: A Primer for Budding Entrepreneurs," presented and published in Moscow in 1994; "Entrepreneurship in a Time of Change," presented in Beijing in 1996; and, "Challenges and Opportunities," presented in Taipei in 1997. Mrs. Kirkland is a Board Member of the following organizations: the United Nations International School; New York Theological Seminary, and the Bronx Rosedale Achievement Center.

Born in San Jose, Costa Rica, Mrs. Kirkland is of Hispanic heritage and is fluent in Spanish. She holds an O.P.M. in Management from Harvard University School of Business, an M.A. in Administration from NYU, and a B.A. from Queens College CUNY.
