Nancy E. Hood
Vice President, Advocacy and Acquisition Partnerships, American Express OPEN
Nancy Hood oversees the advocacy and acquisition partnership efforts for American Express OPEN, the division dedicated exclusively to the success of small business owners and their companies.
In this role, she ensures that OPEN's commitment to the success of women entrepreneurs is implemented through several customer-focused channels. Through the Women's Business Initiative, OPEN cultivates partnerships with leading women's business organizations that foster innovation, like the Women Presidents' Organization, and offers valuable educational resources and breakthrough programs.
Nancy started with American Express in 1998, and has worked in OPEN since 2005. In addition to the Women's Business Initiative, Nancy is responsible for OPEN's national field sales force, its tradeshow efforts, and its cobrand partnerships with Costco and Lowes. Prior to this role, Nancy served as a Vice President for the Charge and Customer Relationship Management division of OPEN, where she was responsible for a 360-degree marketing strategy for penetrating select industry segments.
A lawyer and art history major, Nancy holds a J.D., cum laude, from the New York University School of Law, and an A.B., magna cum laude, from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Ed Swartz, her six-year old son, Will, and their dog, Sadie.
