Nancy Geenen is a partner in the Silicon Valley office of the law firm, Foley & Lardner. Nancy advises her clients, many of whom are WPO members, on strategic management and risk assessment in the financial, intellectual property, and real estate practice areas. She speaks and writes frequently on leadership, risk analysis, and jury trial presentation. Nancy partners with her WPO clients in the effective management of business and intellectual property challenges that hinder growth and sustainability.
In 1998 and 1999, Nancy worked in Geneva, Switzerland for the United Nations Compensation Commission as team leader and senior legal officer, resolving claims for business losses incurred as a result of the 1990 Gulf War. While working at the UN, she investigated and prosecuted over $10 billion in contract claims and other business injuries filed by 420 business entities from 45 countries.
Nancy is a Northern California SuperLawyer, nominated by her peers in each of the last six years. The San Francisco Business Times named her one of the Most Influential Business Women in the Bay Area in each of the last five years of the nine years that Nancy served as the Managing Partner for Foley’s Northern California offices. Nancy served three terms on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, with two terms as an at-large member of the Executive Committee.
Currently, Nancy is a lecturer for the UC Hastings College of Law, Leadership Academy for Women, a member of the Board of Directors of the San Francisco School Alliance, and a Global Advisor for the education non-profit, World Savvy.
A member of the Platinum II and San Francisco chapter of the WPO, Nancy graduated from Santa Clara University Law School and earned her masters and bachelors degrees from Stanford University.
