Berenson earned an MS degree from Boston University's College of Communication and a BA in Journalism/English from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She received the 2004 Distinguished Alumni Award from BU's College of Communication and was recognized in 1993 by the University of Massachusetts Alumni Association for Distinguished Professional Service. She was honored as a 2004 Women-Owned Business Star by WBENC.
