Launches Second Portland Chapter Forum For Accomplished Women Entrepreneurs Expands Portland, OR - The Women Presidents' Organization (WPO) will launch a new chapter in Portland on Thursday February 21, joining the Portland I chapter and increasing the WPO presence in Oregon. The WPO is the premier organization for accomplished woman entrepreneurs grossing $2 million in annual revenue ($1 million for a service-based business). Through the WPO, a diverse group of women presidents are able to tap into the collective wisdom of their peers and advance their business and personal success. Local WPO chapters are coordinated by a professional facilitator and meet monthly to share business expertise and experience in a confidential and collaborative setting. In ten years, the WPO membership has grown to over 1200 members strong in the United States, Canada, Peru and the UK. The rapid growth of the WPO is a reflection of the remarkable development of women-owned businesses throughout Oregon and across the country. As of 2006, there are an estimated 149,423 privately-held women-owned firms in Oregon, accounting for 46.4% of all privately held firms, generating more than $26 billion in sales, and employing over 180,000 people. * "A new chapter in Portland will increase the WPO's visibility and give women entrepreneurs in the area a resource, already used by 1200 women, to reach higher levels of professional success," said Marsha Firestone Ph.D., president and founder of the Women Presidents' Organization.
